Protection of your personal data

How are the personal data processed?

When you contact us

When you contact us, the data you provide is processed in order to be able to respond to your inquiry, proposal, request. The following contact options are available:

It is possible to contact the Sahel Alliance via the email addresses provided or via the form on the “Contact” page. In this case, at least the e-mail address but also all other personal data you transmit with the e-mail (e.g. first and last name, address) as well as the information contained in the e-mail are stored for the purpose of contacting you to process your request.



When you contact us by phone, your personal data will be processed to the extent necessary to process your request.



When you contact us by mail, the personal data you provide (e.g. first and last name, address) and the information contained in the letter are stored for the purpose of establishing contact and processing your request.



On the Alliance Sahel website, you can subscribe to our electronic newsletter. Your personal data will be processed and used exclusively for sending the newsletter. The service provider for the newsletter is Sendinblue.

After entering your email address, an email containing a link to confirm the authenticity of the address and the subscription (“double opt-in”) is sent. If you do not confirm the subscription by clicking on the link in the e-mail, your data will be deleted immediately.

The subscription to the newsletter can be cancelled at any time by following the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of each newsletter.

Disclosure to third parties

GIZ does not pass on personal data to third parties unless it is obliged or permitted to do so by law.

Data retention period

User data will not be retained longer than is necessary for the purpose of processing or required by law.

Data security

GIZ attaches great importance to the protection of personal data. For this reason, technical and organizational security measures ensure that data is protected against accidental and intentional manipulation, unintentional deletion and unauthorized access. These measures are updated according to technical developments and are continuously adapted to the risks.

What are your rights?

In accordance with the regulations, you may, at any time, exercise your rights of access, rectification, deletion and portability of information concerning you, as well as your rights to limit and oppose the processing of your data. To exercise your rights, or for any question relating to your personal data, you can write by email to the Data Protection Officer: All requests must be accompanied by proof of identity.

You have the right to appeal to the competent data protection supervisory authority, the German Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (BfDI).
