Activities of the “Sahel Facility” Foundation in Chad
The “Sahel Facility” Foundation was established in 2021 as a trust fund to finance community projects in Burkina Faso, Mauritania, Mali, Niger and Chad. The foundation is open to any donor wishing to invest in the Sahel region, in particular partners of the Sahel Alliance.
In Chad, as in the other countries involved, the foundation supports projects implemented by national and international non-governmental organisations (NGOs) that are working to unlock the potential of local communities in the Sahel region and promote peace, social cohesion and prosperity.
Currently, the first project is underway in Chad, the “Développement Concerté et Inclusif dans la Province du Lac (DECILAC)” project.
The project is implemented by a consortium of three (3) NGOs: CONCERN as lead partner and two national partners: ACHUDE and APSELPA. This project aims at inclusive development through economic strengthening of Lake Chad communities. There will be structural support through socio-economic infrastructure and professionalisation of the entrepreneurial fabric of young people and women from local communities and displaced persons/refugees.
The programme will focus on 3 zones :
- the area where displaced people are concentrated around Fourkoulom
- the urban commune of Bagasola and its immediate suburbs
- the Bol – Ngororom peninsular axis
Perspectives au Chad
The Foundation is currently working with the various stakeholders to prepare a new call for tenders. The Foundation focuses on priority areas defined by mutual agreement between these strategic players.
