3rd General Assembly of the Sahel Alliance

Representatives of the 26 members of the Sahel Alliance and its partners will meet on 4 April 2022 in Madrid for the 3rd General Assembly of the coordination platform.

This exercise will provide an opportunity to take stock of the Alliance’s achievements in 2021 and to define strategic orientations to ensure the continuity and strengthening of development interventions for the sustainable improvement of the living conditions of the Sahelian populations, in a complex political and security context. This year, the third General Assembly will be chaired by the Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation.

At the end of the General Assembly, a press conference will be held at the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Minister José Manuel Albares, representatives of the G5 Sahel and of the Sahel Alliance, will exchange views with journalists on the main conclusions of the General Assembly and the prospects for cooperation in the Sahel over the coming months.

The press conference will be broadcast live on the YouTube channels of the Sahel Alliance (in French) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation (in Spanish).
